Avatar and the Pandora Wide Web

I watched Avatar last week and that's it. That's the first thing that came to my mind. When people mentioned Avatar for the first time, few years ago, I first imagined it was related to Second Life®‘s catastrophe.

Well, I didn’t go that far. It truly is, but not the 2nd Life as the platform, but our 2nd life: the internet.

Let’s get started. In 1998 we were joining mIRCs, online chats and most of people were creating their characters based on their likes, idols and some other attributes which were not directly related to our own character. We were starting our second life the way we wanted to.

12 years later and we still create our profiles based on what we like and what we do. But now things have changed. You can now share almost all your first life in your second life. You can share pictures, videos, comments, posts, tweets, everything. And they become memories. Memories of certain moments you had.

Can you feel the connection with Pandora now?

Pandora is a world where everything is connected. The regions, animals and trees work as tools, widgets and platforms to share your life. The trees work as communities, or social networks. You have your friends there.

All the time you connect to a tool you start to share your actions, feelings and memories. It keeps there and next generations are able to see it in the future.

So, what’s the Avatar?

The Avatar is your profile. In our Pandora wide web I’d be edugiansante. That’s how people know me on the internet. They may know you by a nickname, by some specific picture you constantly use on your profile or something else. But that enables who you are in the network.

We have also people trying to hack our systems, almost like the agents Smith. In Avatar they are represented by humans, which make completely sense to me as we create and destroy everything by ourselves. They also have tools to help them.

Would it be too much to say that Google is Ewya? :)

Our second life has become so relevant now that people can't live without it. Actually, their lives are there. Their first lives.

If you can connect to a place where you have voice, straight and can become a leader, why not go further?

Novo formato de anúncio no DailyMotion

Vi hoje, bem bacana, a tela fica "transparente" (diminui opacidade) e o video comeca a rolar.

Jornais Metro e Herald finalmente oficializam casamento
